Jeneva Touchie is a Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ community member, language educator, and lifelong learner dedicated to the revitalization of the Nuu-chah-nulth language. Raised in Hitacu on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Jeneva's journey has taken her from studying hospitality to earning a degree in Indigenous Language Revitalization, where she discovered her passion for reconnecting language, culture, and community.
In 2025, Jeneva received the Citizen of the Year Award from the District of Ucluelet. Today, she serves as Language Services Manager for the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government, helping to develop innovative approaches to language learning, reclaim Indigenous place names, and inspire the next generation of speakers.
In this episode, Jeneva reflects on how leaving home ultimately led her back to a deeper understanding of the land, her community, and the language that has always belonged here.
